To Accelerate Time is a spell in the Warren Book of Shadows that allows witches to fast-forward time for twenty-four hours. It was used by Prue Halliwell to break out of a time loop.

History

In 1999, the Charmed Ones were stuck in a time loop created by the Demonic Sorcerer Tempus. Knowing that time would be reset by midnight, Prue used this spell to accelerate time and broke the time loop after Inspector Rodriguez killed Andy Trudeau. The spell moved time forward to one minute after midnight. Breaking the time loop seemingly vanquished Tempus, though it was revealed two years later that he had only been weakened.^[1][2]

Notes and Trivia

• In the non-canon novel, Soul of the Bride, the sisters cast the spell again to accelerate a few days forward to the birthday of Nikos, the son of Hades; Nikos attempted to force Phoebe's hand in marriage as per requirement to keep his powers, but by accelerating time to exceed the deadline, the Charmed Ones ensured that he lost as he had technically failed.
